What is the distance?

It’s 26 miles (42km) and covers various terrain from roads, moorland and bogs to stony tracks.


Please note, the route will NOT be waymarked, however, safety marshals will be located at approximately 5 mile intervals along the course to provide support.


How much?

£30 Early Bird until 1st December.
£35 from 2nd December. Waterproof maps may be purchased for £2 each.


Entry includes premium cotton event T-shirt, Challenge Pin Badge, Custom Certificate with finish time, Refreshments, including the famous Pie & Peas at the end, Safety cover from the team, waterproof map if paid for (free for early bird entries) and a cracking 26 mile course!


For the first time this year the event features Electronic Chip Timing which provides many additional safety features in tracking walkers and runners around the course, reducing waiting times at Registration, at Checkpoints and your arrival at the finish. You’ll get an accurate finish time printed out as soon as you finish the course.

08:00 – Start of Allendale Challenge Walk

(Walkers must commence the walk before 09:00)

09:00 – Registration Opens for Runners

09:55 – Safety Briefing for Runners on Start Line

10:00 – Start of The Allendale Challenge Race



Parking will be in designated car parks and our team members and volunteers will direct you to where you can park. Please consider the residents of Allendale and do not park on the road sides. In particular consider whether an ambulance or fire engine can pass where you have parked. Please car share where possible.



Registration will take place in Allendale Village Hall.


Feed Stations


The team are keen to reduce the amount of waste produced at the event. No single use cups will be available.


There are refreshments available at certain checkpoints on the route. Refreshments include water, squash, tea, soup and biscuits. Please note, not all may be available at all checkpoints.


Electronic Chip Timing

At Registration you will be provided with your elctronic timing chip. We will explain how to use the chip. You still go to the same checkpoints but now you get to “dib” your timing chip into a device and it records your time. When you get back to the finish you’ll now get a detailed printout of when you reached each point.


Please remember to return your chip when you finish. There is a charge of £25 for timing chips that are not returned to us, so please be sure to return this at the finish.



Camping is available for the weekend of the Challenge at Bridgend Mill Farm, South West of the village square next to the river.(B6295)
