What is the distance?

It’s 26 miles (42km) and covers various terrain from roads, moorland and bogs to stony tracks.


Please note, the route will NOT be waymarked, however, safety marshals will be located at approximately 5 mile intervals along the course to provide support.


How much?

Entry Fee £35.


Entry includes a premium cotton event T-shirt and Challenge Pin Badge, safety cover from the team and a cracking 26 mile course!


For the first time this year, the event features Electronic Chip Timing with live tracking which provides many additional safety features in tracking walkers and runners around the course, reducing waiting times at Registration, at Checkpoints and your arrival at the finish. You’ll get an accurate finish time as soon as you finish the course.


Event Schedule

When registering for the event you are required to select a wave start time. Waves of 100 participants will be set off every 15 minutes starting at 7am.


07:00 – First wave start for walkers

08:30 – Last wave start for walkers

10:00 – Mass start of The Allendale Challenge Running Race



Parking will be in designated car parks and our team members and volunteers will direct you to where you can park. Please consider the residents of Allendale and do not park on the road sides. In particular consider whether an ambulance or fire engine can pass where you have parked. Please car share where possible.



You will NOT be required to register at Allendale Village Hall. You race number (including timing chip) will be posted directly to you prior the race.


Feed Stations


The team are keen to reduce the amount of waste produced at the event. No single use cups will be available.


We are unable to confirm whether we will be permitted to make refreshments available at the aid stations on the route. Normally refreshments include water, squash, tea, soup and biscuits. Please note, not all may be available at all checkpoints.


Electronic Chip Timing

For the first time this year, the Challenge will feature electronic chip timing. You will receive your race number (including timing chip) through the post prior to the event.



Camping is normally available for the weekend of the Challenge at Bridgend Mill Farm, South West of the village square next to the river.(B6295). This will be confirmed closer to the date of the event.

You are not required to book.
